In the west lie the Andes. To the east is the coastline of the South
Atlantic. It continues south, into Tierra del Fuego, where the world
ends and the American continent's southern most mountains drop into
icy seas: Patagonia.
Argentine Patagonia, the vast triangle (over three quarters of a
million square kilometres) south of the R’o Colorado, is far from
any madding crowds. The land is still in the hands of the old nature,
weather and sky gods.
Bariloche is the most important tourist center in Patagonia. The
city is within the Nahuel Huapi National Park and has one of the
largest ski centers in Latin America.
